Course Outline
Week One - Welcome & Introduction
Class 1 - Grammar Pretest. Introduction to Fix-it Tom Sawyer. Chapter 1 will be distributed and students will edit four selections per week.
Class 2 - Class reading of pgs. 17-38 in Writer's Guide. Set up notebooks.
Assignments - Week 1 Fix-Its. Read pgs. 41-43 in Writer's Guide and write a chronological paragraph. Finding Subjects & Verbs Quiz 1 (Grammar pg. 78) Read Grammar pgs. 1-2.
Week Two
Class 1 - Correct Quiz 1. Take Finding Subjects & Verbs Quiz 2 (will be collected & graded) Chronological paragraphs will be collected and graded. Fix-it Tom Sawyer Chapter 1, Week 1 will be corrected.
Class 2 - We will read and discuss Subject and Verb Agreement, Grammar pgs. 2-6 and take & correct Quiz 1.
Assignments - Week 2 Fix-Its. Read pgs. 45-47 in Writer's Guide and write a descriptive paragraph. Take Subject & Verb Agreement Quiz 2, Grammar pgs. 80-81. Read Pronouns, pgs. 6-8 and take Pronouns Quiz 1 (pg. 81).
Week Three
Class 1 - Turn in Subject & Verb Agreement Quiz 2. Correct Pronoun Quiz 1. Take Pronoun Quiz 2 (to be collected and graded). Share descriptive paragraphs. Turn in to be graded. Improve chronological paragraph per teacher editing and place in binder behind appropriate tab.
Class 2 - Correct Fix-its. Read Who vs. Whom, Whoever vs. Whomever, and that vs. which. Take Quiz 1.
Assignments - Week 3 Fix-Its. Who, Whom, That Quiz 2. Read Adjectives and Adverbs, pgs. 10-11 in Grammar. Take Quiz 1, pgs. 85-86.
